The mid-1980s – due to political turbulence – was not the best time to open a business. However, the turbulent times did not stand in the way of Andrzej Piasek, a certified master carpenter who valued professional independence more than anything else. Thanks to his determination, courage, but also his knowledge and excellent expertise in the carpentry profession, he created a business that is still in operation today.
He passed on his passion for wood and furniture making to his son Mateusz Piasek, who now leads a team of professionals. The works of their hands decorate many interiors and delight the eye with precision workmanship and quality material from reliable partners with whom the company has built relationships over the years.
In 2019, the company – following the death of its founder – changed its name from Art-Drew to Sabbia. This was a kind of tribute to his late father and an acknowledgement of his work. Sabbia is a beautiful-sounding Italian word that means ‘sand’ [‘piasek’ in Polish]. Thus, the last name of the company’s first owner was included in the name.
